Episode 34 – David Abidor

WE’RE BAAACK. Raising Bulls is back for another episode ahead of this weekend’s game against Harrisburg City Islanders. With no game to recap, this week, we focus on some of the news coming out of New York Red Bulls II last week.
First up, friend of the show Evan Louro, signed a homegrown deal with the senior team. Evan has been starting nearly every game for NYRBII. The contract is well deserved. The only question we have though, is how long will he have to wait to get a shot with the first team? Ryan Meara is heir apparent to Luis Robles, and is only 26.
Speaking of the first team, Hassan N’Dam moved one step closer to the MLS squad making the bench this past weekend against Chicago Fire. N’Dam’s inclusion surely had to do with the injury to Aurellien Collin, but I’m sure he won’t mind. N’Dam should be in contention to earn some minutes potentially this week if Jesse Marsch looks to rotate the squad during the congested week.
Red Bulls II have a new attacking threat with Douglas Martinez. Martinez joins the team on loan from CD Vida. The young Honduran can play as a forward, winger, or attacking midfielder, and should add depth to a squad still trying to find their form in the early season.
To close the first segment, we discuss what is going on with the Red Bulls and why they might be struggling for consistency.
Then, David Abidor joins the show to talk about his time in USL and abroad. David’s journey was interesting and insightful. We enjoyed talking with the defender/midfielder, and we think you will enjoy it too. Plus, he throws some shade on a certain player’s FIFA skills.
Finally, we preview the match against Harrisburg City Islanders. The Islanders scalped the Red Bulls a month ago on the back of a Manolo Sanchez goal. Will the Red Bulls get their revenge on Saturday night? Time will tell.
